Alaska Local 50th Birthday Celebration Event. The Ketchikan Car Club will celebrate Alaska's 50th birthday by recreating the original car parade. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Federal Building parking lot. Come celebrate the 4^th of July on the Alaska Queen Paddle Wheel. The cruise will go from the Taquan Air dock, out to Saxman and the anchor at the north end of Pennock Island to watch the fireworks before returning to the dock at 12 midnight. The boat will be loading at 7:30 p.m. and departing at 8:00 p.m. It’s a family event with live music and non-alcoholic beverages free. Fun runs in familes and vice versa...join this family event at Ward Lake on July 11, 2009. The 1-mile race starts at 10:30 a.m. and the 5K starts at 11:00 a.m. Children 12 and younger run a course.
