Alaska Local 50th Birthday Celebration Event. It’s the 6th Annual 5k Run or 1 mile Walk or Wheel Fundraiser for SAIL/ORCA. Alaska Local 50th Birthday Celebration Event. US Independence Day celebrations starting off with the annual parade beginning at 12 noon, running from Madison Lumber on Tongass Avenue to the parking lot at Tatsuda's Supermarket.

Description:

Come celebrate the 4th of July on the Alaska Queen Paddle Wheel. The cruise will go from the Taquan Air dock, out to Saxman and the anchor at the north end of Pennock Island to watch the fireworks before returning to the dock at 12 midnight. The boat will be loading at 7:30 p.m. and departing at 8:00 p.m. It’s a family event with live music and non-alcoholic beverages free. The Halibut Derby, running July 11/12 and 18/19 2009, is a fundraising event for Southern Southeast Alaska Building Association (SEABIA) scholarships.

Description:

Celebrate the diversity of community dance! Join us for a performance with everything from belly dancing to ballroom, from traditional Native Alaskan to tap. This show is as varied as the people of Ketchikan!

Local and visiting dancers and choreographers working in a variety of contemporary and traditional styles perform for two nights, surrounding the Blueberry Arts Festival on August 1st, 2009.
