Web Site Marketing
The KVB’s official Web site can be accessed globally and is typically ranked #1 in major search engine results for Ketchikan. Members receive a $50.00 credit toward a listing in the category of your choice in our Travelers Directory. This credit covers a basic listing, which includes company name, address, phone/fax numbers, and e-mail and Web site links.
For added exposure, members can purchase additional listings and create expanded listings including, narratives, company logos and photographs for a nominal fee. Web display advertisements are available in select sections of our site.
Experience Alaska Ketchikan Area Guide
The KVB’s official travel planner is produced annually to complement our Web site and provide a convenient source of information for visitors during planning and their actual visit. This full-color publication is distributed to 150,000 visitors, potential visitors and travel agents. A PDF version of the guide is also available online for expanded reach. Members receive a free basic listing as well as a 10% discount off advertising rates.
Brochure Display
All members receive space for one brochure free with membership at the KVB’s Visitor Information Center. (Must be no larger than 4" x 9"; please provide no more than 200-500 copies. KVB staff will contact you when additional brochures are needed.) Additional rack locations within the KVB are available for a small annual fee.
Brochure Distribution
Target other key visitor entry points – Ketchikan International Airport, Alaska Marine Highway System Ferry Terminal, local hotels, attractions, air taxi terminals and on-board selected AMHS ferries. Select from seasonal or year-round service. KVB members are entitled to a 10% discount on published rates.
Fast Facts
The KVB distributes our biweekly “Fast Facts” to provide news and information of interest to our membership via e-mail. Faxed or mailed versions are also available upon request.
Alaska Host Training
KVB staff are trained to provide the state’s AlaskaHost customer service program. Training is offered in the spring, just prior to the onset of the visitor season and is available upon request to groups of 8-15. This program is an excellent resource for front-line employees, those new to the visitor industry, or anyone who seeks to provide customer service skills to their staff. KVB members are charged a nominal fee to cover the cost of the training kits. Call the KVB for more information.
FAM Trip Sponsorship/Media Pass
Members interested in offering complimentary services can sign up to participate in FAM trip programs or be included on our annual media pass at no charge. Familiarization trips are provided to travel writers, film and TV producers, photographers and key travel industry personnel. The KVB hosts about a dozen such trips each year.
Resource Library
The KVB maintains a slide library for member use in developing brochures. Members are also free to review our collection of travel and trade publications, trade show schedules, local, state and regional surveys and economic data, industry trade group information and more.
Inquiry Labels
See our membership application and choose visitor categories of interest to receive self-adhesive labels ready for your use to mail your brochure to prospective clients. Travel agents and tour operator names are also available. KVB members are also eligible to participate in the SATC (Southeast Alaska Tourism Council) label program. Information packets are available at our office.
Direct Line Reservation System
Locations within the KVB information center and the Alaska Marine Highway’s Ketchikan Terminal and the Ketchikan International Airport are available. Forms are available at the KVB office.
